Celebrate Earth Day With Ambrosia!
We’re so excited to introduce all of you to Ambrosia employee, Liana! Today Liana will be breaking down some eco-friendly and environmentally conscious products carried here at Ambrosia…plus what exactly does “eco-friendly” mean anyways?! Take it away Liana! 8 Eco-Friendly Products to Try Out for Earth Day – Liana, Team Ambrosia As many of you know by now: April 22nd is Earth Day! So to help celebrate, I’ve complied a list of some our most eco-friendly products. “Eco-friendly” tends to be used as a catch phrase, but can really be applied to anything that does not harm the environment. These products can help make your daily routine a little more environmentally sound, and we offer them right here at Ambrosia for your convenience! 1.Cha’s Organic (formerly Arayuma) spices: Not only are these spices organic and fair-trade, but a portionof their packaging is made from recycled banana leaf paper! Chocosol: Delicious chocolate – but did you know that Chocosol initiated a “Chocosoil” project? Based on their “cradle-to-cradle” waste use approach, this project aims to build healthy, urban soil ecosystems. Their products are also wrapped in compostable and reusable packaging.
  1. Ecoideas’ Himalayan soapnuts: These soapnuts are the berries from the Ritha tree (Soapnut tree); they contain saponin, which creates soapsuds. These cleansing suds are great for laundry, offering you a chemical-free and ecologically responsible laundry detergent. Not to mention their packaging is plastic free.
  1. If You Care’s parchment paper and baking cups:Not only are these items a monthly special, but they also offer great environmental benefits. Their parchment paper and baking cups come from FSC certified forests, which means they come from forest products that have been managed using eco-friendly, socially responsible and economically viable forestry practices. Bonus: They are chlorine free and compostable!
  1. Thirsty Buddha’s coconut water: Thirsty Buddha gives back by participating in 1% For The Planet. Thirsty Buddha is a member of the initiative and part of 1% For The Planet’s mission is to build an alliance of businesses that are financially committed to creating a healthier planet – investing in positive change.
  1. Produce sold at Ambrosia: All produce in our stores are 100% organic, and organic certified. How is this ecofriendly? Organic produce is grown without the use of synthetic chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Such toxic chemicals threaten soil and water quality, and arguably our own health. By purchasing organic produce you’re supporting a more environmentally sustainable farming method that’s good for both the planet and yourself!
  1. Skin Essence Organic beauty care products: These beauty products are packaged and shipped in recyclable, non-toxic amber glass. In addition, their ingredients are exclusively organic and/or wild harvested.
  1. Endangered Species Chocolate bars: Yes … another chocolate, because this monthly special’s eco-friendliness couldn’t be ignored. This brand of chocolate donates 10% of its net profits to its chosen beneficiaries/partners, which looks to support wildlife conservation and species at risk. For 2016-2018 their partners are: Rainforest Trust andWildlife Conservation Network.
